Beauty Treatments Which Are ‘BUCKET LIST’ Worthy in 2018

Saturday 5 May 2018

When visiting a medical aesthetics clinic we are all looking for the best results in the least amount of time. We want to invest in our skin but we also expect almost instant results.

It therefore stands to reason that we took the time to explore a few of the latest trends for 2018, and hottest treatments available for your skin.

Here are treatments that will give you swoon worthy taut skin, beautifully sculpted contours and take off a good few years to boot! Celebrities love them, so why wouldn’t we too?

Our top 6 bucket list beauty treatment are:

1.) Laser Genesis

Laser Genesis skin rejuvenation treatments are safe and effective ways of treating scarring, diffuse redness, uneven texture and large pores.

Laser genesis is form of non-invasive laser therapy that uses laser technology to gently heat the different levels of the dermis. The temporary thermal treatment increase the skin’s collagen production, break down damaged capillaries and shrinks pores on the skin’s surface. The laser produces a warm, tingling sensation on the patient’s skin, which usually lasts for 30 minutes.
How does it work?
It’s effective for both men and women and is proven to increase an individual’s collagen production, which along with the heat generated by the treatment helps to shrink facial pores across the nose, cheeks, chin and forehead. Results are more subtle at first, with the benefits from treatment increasing over time as the regenerated collagen helps beautiful, smooth skin to grow. It increase in intensity and the number of treatments received increases, with the average patient receiving four treatments for optimal results. The number of treatments needed is determined on a few things, depending upon the skin’s growth cycle and also the size and spread of enlarged pores. Potential side effects include mild skin irritation and peeling around the treatment site. Laser genesis usually takes less than an hour to perform, and irritation or side effects after the treatment are extremely minimal. Most patients are immediately able to return to their daily activities.

When will I see results?
You will slowly start to see results 3-9 weeks after your first treatment because we are repairing cells deep in the middle layer of the skin. Once these cells start to come to the surface, you will see improvements in texture, redness, scarring and fine lines. This is a cumulative treatment which means that your specific condition will continue to improve more and more with each treatment.

2.) Dermapen

If it is an overall rejuvenation of the face you are wanting, we would recommend the Dermapen treatment. Dermapen is recognized at the forefront of anti-ageing in the skin rejuvenation field. It is widely viewed as one of the skincare procedures that offers a notable effect to the skin’s elasticity, health and overall youthfulness. Many consider periodic Dermapen treatments as their solution of choice, for it is a method that is well-proven to be safe and effective.

Dermapen is helpful in solving a wide spectrum of skin problems – from minimizing the appearance of large pores, to aiding in the reduction of acne scars, improving surgical or other types of scars or burn wounds, lessening the appearance of stretchmarks, to promoting general skin rejuvenation – thereby resulting in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and increasing the production of collagen.

3.) Chemical Peels

A peel is a type of exfoliation for your skin. Apart from curing your skin problems, this procedure also allows your skin care products to penetrate deeper in the future, thus making them more effective. Skin peels are an effective, affordable and safe way to achieve facial rejuvenation results, and they complement other treatments beautifully.

They are suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. A course of four to six peels, spaced four weeks apart, is recommended to see a clinical result or outcome.

Also known as “lunch-time” or every-day peels, these remove only the outermost layer of skin (the stratum corneum), and have no downtime with redness or oozing. There is no “peeling” or “shedding” of the skin other than possible mild flaking or dryness after a couple of days, which is easily treated with a good moisturizer. The therapist will choose between an array of acids at different concentrations (for example, 15%, and 20%) depending on the treatment needed and desired result.

4.) Botox

What is botox?
BOTOX® is the first and only FDA-approved prescription product that temporarily improves the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and moderate to severe crow’s feet. Botox is a drug made from a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Doctors use it in small doses to treat health problems, including
•Temporary smoothing of facial wrinkles and improving your appearance
•Severe underarm sweating
•Cervical dystonia – a neurological disorder that causes severe neck and shoulder muscle contractions
•Blepharospasm – uncontrollable blinking
•Strabismus – misaligned eyes
•Chronic migraines
•Overactive bladder
What does it do?
Botox injections work by weakening or paralyzing certain muscles or by blocking certain nerves. The effects last about three to five months, depending on what you are treating. You should not use Botox if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

A consultation is needed prior to any treatment with an aesthetic doctor.

5.) Dermal Fillers

What are dermal fillers?
Dermal Fillers are Hyaluronic acid that rejuvenate and enhance facial features with natural looking and feeling results. It is injected below the skins surface to ‘fill-in’ wrinkles, plump-up small areas such as the lips, and re-volumes large areas like cheeks.
How do dermal fillers work?
Dermal fillers fill in the area under the skin. Dermal fillers work to improve the appearance of aging skin in the following ways:
•Filling in wrinkles, fine lines and deep creases
•Improving other imperfections like scars
•Filling out thin or wrinkled lips
•Plumping up cheeks
•Contouring the jaw line and other areas of the face
How many treatments do I need?
A single treatment every 9-12 months is needed.
Does it hurt?
Local anaesthesia can be used if necessary, although it isn’t needed for all patients. Without local anaesthesia, we would rate the pain of dermal filler injections at around 2.5/10. With local anaesthesia, we would rate the pain of dermal filler injections at around 0.5/10.

How long till you see results
You should see an immediate improvement in the treatment areas. Most patients need one treatment to achieve optimal wrinkle smoothing. And one treatment could smooth your lines and wrinkles for up to 1 year! However, results may vary and correction is temporary. The injection process takes only about 15 minutes.

A consultation is needed prior to any treatment with an aesthetic doctor.
